Growth (past)

I started my own Christian Blog on LiveJournal, but I could not find a Christian community who would read it on there. So the next few blogs that I write will have “(past)” in the title, to indicate that they were written a while ago.

This next one is from last February.

In life, you have friends, and you have lovers. You have family, and you have acquaintances. The one thing all these people have in common is that they are all in some sort of relationship with you.
So, what do you do when things start going wrong?
It’s called growing apart.
You can talk to that friend, lover, family member or other person, and you can try and sort it out. Sometimes, you stay together like glue, and grow together.
Sometimes, you don’t.

There was a point in time when I grew so much, I thought that God had left me. So, I sought out other paths, none of them the one I should have been on.
In the end, I realized something very important:

“… the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

God will never turn his back on you. Only you can turn your back on God. God will never leave you. Only you can step away from God.

In learning that, I also learned something else. When you grow apart from someone, it does not mean that you are gone forever from someone’s life; quite the contrary. By being in their life, you have affected them, and you will always be part of them. You will always be a part of them, and, through you, so will God.
So, just by being with someone, exchanging a few words, you have served as God’s vessel and touched someone.
Then, that someone, wherever they are led, has touched someone else, and then that person touches another…. And so on and so forth. Everyone has been given a plan by God. He is all-knowing, and leads everyone where they are meant to go.

God has a path for everyone.

It may involve heartbreak, but if it does, turn to Psalm 34:18:

“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

….It may involve sorrow, but if it does, turn to
Jeremiah 31:13:

“I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.”

….And it may involve weariness, in which case you should turn to
Matthew 11:28-30:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

In all of those, there is one common theme: God is always with you.

Wherever God plants your roots, you will grow and thrive through faith. Whether you grow apart from others, whoever they are, you will still be a part of their lives, because God touched their very souls through you.
You are a servant of God.
He knows your path, so trust in Him. He will not lead you astray, even when it seems like you’ve hit rock-bottom. He
will pick you up.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
