I work offshore on a ship…out of Brazil right now. There are about 25 other people who work and live on this ship. A few minutes ago, I was up stairs eating dinner. The group of people that I usually sit with were at a full table so I sat with the Brazilian A/B. He and I speak to each other in passing but I don’t know a lot about him. We made small talk as we ate. He asked when I was going back to the states, how long I usually stay in Brazil, etc. Then he asked me if I was a Christian out of the blue. I think that this was a rhetorical question…everyone on the ship already knows that I’m the weirdo who prays over his food before he eats and doesn’t go out to the strip clubs with the other guys. But I told him that I was a Christian.
He went on to tell me that he was a Catholic up until 1990, when he converted to Christianity. He explained how he stopped drinking, smoking, and partying…and how his life was so much better now. Then he asked me if my whole family was Christian too. It turns out that he, his wife, and his son are all Christians now. But his mother, daughter, and the rest of his family are not…and apparently, they pray to idols and statues. He explained that he has been trying to win his family over for a while and how very hard it has been. But then his exclaimed, “nothing is impossible for Jesus!” I agreed with him.
I ask that we all pray for my coworker and his family…that they will see Christ in him and turn from idols. Because, with God, all things ARE possible!

Ill definitely pray for this man’s family, and for his courage to keep at it. Its so encouraging to hear that even though his family isnt receptive he would seem undetermined by uttering “nothing is impossible for Him”.
